How was this calculated?

Monthly salary is annualized where selected. The calculator then applies the relevant Tax Year 2027 salaried slab and converts annual tax into an estimated monthly deduction.

Important: This tool estimates normal tax on taxable salary. Actual payroll withholding or final liability can differ because of tax credits, adjustments, other income, exemptions or taxpayer-specific treatment.

Salary Tax Calculator Pakistan helps salaried employees estimate their income tax for Tax Year 2027 (2026-27). Enter your monthly or annual taxable salary in the calculator above to see your estimated annual salary tax, monthly tax deduction, take-home salary, effective tax rate and applicable tax slab.

The calculator uses the salaried individual tax slabs applicable for Tax Year 2027 and automatically performs the progressive slab calculation for you.

If you need to calculate tax for a non-salaried individual as well, use our Income Tax Calculator Pakistan.

How to Use the Salary Tax Calculator Pakistan

Using the calculator takes only a few steps:

  1. Select Monthly Taxable Salary or Annual Taxable Salary.
  2. Enter your taxable salary in Pakistani rupees.
  3. Click Calculate Salary Tax.
  4. Review your estimated annual salary tax.
  5. Check the monthly tax deduction, take-home salary, effective tax rate and applicable slab shown in the results panel.

If you enter monthly salary, the calculator first converts it into annual taxable salary by multiplying the amount by 12.

It then applies the relevant annual salaried tax slab and converts the resulting annual tax into an estimated monthly deduction.

Salary Tax Rates in Pakistan 2026-27

For Tax Year 2027, salaried individuals are subject to a progressive income-tax structure.

Budget 2026-27 introduced additional intermediate slabs and increased the threshold at which the maximum 35% rate applies from Rs. 4.1 million to Rs. 7 million. FBR lists its current TY2027 withholding rate card as updated under Finance Act 2026. Federal Board of Revenue

The applicable rate shown in a slab does not mean that the percentage is charged on your entire salary. Pakistan’s salaried tax calculation uses progressive slabs.

How Salary Tax Is Calculated

The easiest way to understand salary tax is through an example.

Suppose your monthly taxable salary is:

Rs. 200,000

Your annual taxable salary would be:

Rs. 200,000 × 12 = Rs. 2,400,000

An annual taxable salary of Rs. 2.4 million falls in the slab from Rs. 2,200,001 to Rs. 3,200,000.

The calculation is:

Rs. 116,000 + 20% of the amount exceeding Rs. 2,200,000

Amount exceeding Rs. 2,200,000:

Rs. 2,400,000 − Rs. 2,200,000 = Rs. 200,000

Tax on the excess:

Rs. 200,000 × 20% = Rs. 40,000

Therefore:

Annual Salary Tax = Rs. 156,000

Estimated monthly tax:

Rs. 156,000 ÷ 12 = Rs. 13,000

Estimated monthly salary after this tax:

Rs. 200,000 − Rs. 13,000 = Rs. 187,000

The calculator above performs these calculations automatically.

Monthly Salary Tax Examples for 2026-27

Here are some useful examples based on the normal salaried tax calculation:

Monthly Taxable SalaryAnnual Taxable SalaryEstimated Annual TaxApprox. Monthly Tax
Rs. 50,000Rs. 600,000Rs. 0Rs. 0
Rs. 100,000Rs. 1,200,000Rs. 6,000Rs. 500
Rs. 150,000Rs. 1,800,000Rs. 72,000Rs. 6,000

Rs. 250,000Rs. 3,000,000Rs. 276,000Rs. 23,000

These examples assume that the amount entered represents taxable salary and do not automatically account for taxpayer-specific credits, adjustments or other income.

What Is Taxable Salary?

The calculator asks for taxable salary, which may not always be identical to the amount credited to your bank account.

An employee’s salary package can contain different components, benefits or allowances, and their tax treatment can depend on the Income Tax Ordinance and the circumstances of the employee.

Similarly:

Gross Salary ≠ automatically Taxable Salary ≠ Take-Home Salary

Take-home salary is generally the amount remaining after applicable deductions, while taxable salary is the amount on which income tax is calculated after applying the relevant tax rules.

For the most accurate calculator result, enter the taxable salary amount applicable to your case.

Monthly Salary vs Annual Salary

The Salary Tax Calculator Pakistan accepts either monthly or annual taxable salary.

If you choose Monthly Taxable Salary, the calculator uses:

Monthly Salary × 12 = Annual Taxable Salary

The annual tax slabs are then applied to that annualized amount.

If you already know your annual taxable salary, simply select Annual Taxable Salary and enter the annual figure directly.

This means both methods should produce the same result when equivalent income figures are used.

For example:

Rs. 100,000 monthly = Rs. 1,200,000 annually

Under the calculator’s TY2027 salaried rate table, this produces estimated annual tax of:

Rs. 6,000

or approximately:

Rs. 500 per month

What Does Monthly Tax Deduction Mean?

The calculator divides estimated annual salary tax by 12 to provide a useful monthly equivalent.

However, this should be treated as an estimate, not a guarantee that every monthly payslip will contain exactly the same deduction.

FBR describes withholding tax as tax deducted at the time of specified economic activities, and withholding treatment can be adjustable against a taxpayer’s final liability depending on the relevant provision. Federal Board of Revenue

In an actual employment situation, payroll withholding can be affected by circumstances during the tax year, including changes in salary or relevant adjustments.

Therefore, your employer’s actual deduction in a particular month may differ from the calculator’s simple monthly equivalent.

What Is Take-Home Salary?

The calculator displays both:

Monthly Take-Home Salary

and

Annual Take-Home Salary

For calculator purposes, these figures are calculated by subtracting the estimated salary income tax from the taxable salary entered.

For example:

Monthly taxable salary: Rs. 200,000

Estimated monthly income tax: Rs. 13,000

Estimated monthly amount after income tax: Rs. 187,000

Remember that an actual payslip may contain other deductions or additions, so the calculator’s take-home figure should be understood as salary after estimated income tax, rather than a complete payroll calculation.

What Is the Effective Tax Rate?

Your effective tax rate shows the estimated annual salary tax as a percentage of total annual taxable salary.

The calculator uses:

Annual Salary Tax ÷ Annual Taxable Salary × 100

This is different from your marginal tax rate.

For example, falling into a slab where the marginal rate is 20% does not mean 20% is charged on your entire taxable salary.

Because Pakistan uses progressive tax slabs, earlier portions of income are taxed according to their respective slab calculations.

That is why the effective tax rate is normally lower than the highest marginal rate applicable to your salary.

Salary Tax and Tax Year 2027

This calculator is configured for Tax Year 2027 (2026-27).

FBR explains that a normal tax year is a twelve-month period ending on 30 June and is named according to the calendar year in which that date falls. Federal Board of Revenue

Therefore:

1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 = Tax Year 2027

For a detailed explanation, read our Tax Year vs Financial Year in Pakistan guide.

This distinction matters because salary tax rates can change from one Tax Year to another through amendments to tax law.

Salary Tax Calculator vs Income Tax Calculator

TaxInfo.pk provides both tools, but they serve slightly different purposes.

The Salary Tax Calculator Pakistan is specifically designed for employees who want to estimate tax on taxable salary and see monthly tax deduction and take-home salary.

Our Income Tax Calculator Pakistan provides a broader calculator interface that includes both salaried and non-salaried individual categories.

If your income is entirely or primarily employment salary and you want an employee-focused result, the Salary Tax Calculator is the more convenient tool.

If you need to compare different individual income categories, use the Income Tax Calculator.

Can Your Actual Employer Tax Deduction Be Different?

Yes.

The calculator provides an estimate based on the taxable salary entered and the applicable normal salaried rate table.

Your actual employer deduction can differ where, for example:

  • Your salary changes during the year.
  • You join or leave employment during the Tax Year.
  • Your taxable salary differs from the gross amount entered.
  • Relevant adjustments or tax credits apply.
  • You have other taxable income.
  • Your employer makes an adjustment to withholding during the year.
  • A special tax provision applies to your circumstances.

For this reason, the calculator result should not automatically be treated as the exact figure that must appear on every monthly payslip.

Does Salary Tax Deducted by Employer Settle the Final Tax Liability?

Not necessarily in every case.

Salary tax withheld during the year forms part of the taxpayer’s tax position, but an individual’s final return can also involve other income, allowable credits, adjustments and taxes already deducted or collected.

If you are required to file an Income Tax Return, you should reconcile the relevant income and tax deductions when preparing the return.

Salary Tax and Active Taxpayer Status

Salary tax deduction and Active Taxpayer List status are separate concepts.

Having tax deducted from salary does not by itself mean that a person automatically satisfies every requirement associated with appearing on the Active Taxpayer List.
